On February 20, 2026, the Eastern Province (EP) Golf Union hosted the second annual Night of the Stars Awards Evening, held at the prestigious Humewood Golf Club. This glamorous event rolled out the red carpet for an evening filled with excitement, highlighting the passion and talent of our vibrant golf community.
The night was graced by distinguished guests, including Grant Hebburn, President of GolfRSA, and Henk Smith, President of The South African Golf Association (SAGA). We were also honoured to have several highly ranked officials in attendance, such as Baphelele Mhlaba, Head of the EC Infrastructure and Investment Office, and Ntomboxolo Satula, Director of Sport Development at the Head Office. Additionally, Avile Qowa and Gugulethu Adam, both Deputy Directors from the Department of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, joined us to emphasize the importance of our sport and community.
The event was expertly hosted by Clinton Anderson, Vice President of EP Golf, who served as the MC, while EPGU President Karl du Preez took charge of the prize-giving ceremony. We celebrated the accomplishments of our star golfers, both young and seasoned, from every corner of the province, honouring their achievements throughout the season.
This year’s awards featured two Special Awards that recognized the remarkable careers of Lynn Slogrove and Attie Burger. Furthermore, former EP Golf President Joe Matiwana was presented with a Long Service Award for his 20 years of dedicated and selfless service to our union.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Humewood Golf Club and our Awards Committee for their hard work in creating such a memorable evening. Together, we celebrated the spirit of golf excellence in our community!
