On Sunday, 14 June, Wedgewood Country Club and Estate hosted the much-anticipated 2026 Wedgewood Vase Tournament, a premier event in the EPGU golfing calendar. This year’s tournament showcased the incredible condition of the greens, which were faster and smoother than ever, providing a true test for competitors.
Traditionally, the Wedgewood Vase is contested over 36 holes in a single day. However, due to limited sunlight and the need for extra time to navigate the wet conditions after recent heavy rains, the tournament was reduced to 27 holes. This adjustment ensured a fair chance for all competitors to complete play, while maintaining the integrity of the event.
A commendation is in order for all participants, particularly the winners, who adeptly manoeuvred the course conditions. Johndré Ludick, our well-travelled member of the GolfRSA squad, was in town and beat the field by a single shot to be crowned the tournament champion, claiming the coveted Wedgewood Vase. Congratulations to the ever-humble young Mr Ludick on his impressive victory.
Looking forward, golf aficionados are encouraged to mark their calendars for next year’s Wedgewood Vase tournament, poised to maintain its status as a must-attend event in the golfing community.
